In this book, Muhammad Kurd Ali adopts a three-pronged approach: he cites, then refutes, then proves and clarifies. He cites the criticisms of critics, the biases of most orientalists, and the falsities of the Shu'ubiyyah. He then refutes these statements, clarifying their errors, flawed perspectives, and clear shortcomings. He discusses most of their issues in detail as much as possible, leaving you in the end to uphold the truth, no matter what it is or whose hand it is in. Once he finishes this, he begins with clarification, discussing the history of Arabs from before Islam and during it. He talks about some of their customs, trade, wealth, sciences, and aspects of their lives. He discusses their Arabic language, its characteristics, and its impact on Eastern and Western languages. For further clarification, he compares the state of Arab lands with that of Frankish lands in certain eras, and presents what the former left in the lands of the latter, and what they instilled in their lands in terms of advancements in various fields, such as in Sicily, Andalusia, and the borders of France. He then touches upon some of the Crusades, then the raids and destruction by the Mongols and Turks, and the raids of colonialists on Arab lands. He then shifts to the doctrines and sects of Islam and its sciences, studying its administration in chronological order, then its politics, concluding with a comparison of politics between the East and West and critiquing the policies of the Turks at that time.
