المحارب من وادي النعام

في أعماق وادي النعام على طول الصحراء، يبرز محارب شجاع يملك قوة خارقة لا يمتلكها أحد. إنّه «رجل النعامة»، الذي أباد الملثَّمون أهله وقبيلته وهو طفل، والذي سيكبر ليُصبح «المحارب الأكبر»، الذي لا يزال يعبر الصحارى منذ مئات السنين، حيث تنتظر القبائل قدومه لتلتفّ حوله، فهو لا يخاف عدواً، ولا يخسر معركة. لكن معركته مع قتلة عائلته كانت هي الهدف المنتظر، غير أنّ الثأر لن يحدث حتى تتحقق «النبوءة»، وسرّها الذي لا يعرفه سوى «الرجل الحكيم»، والذي ما إن وصل إليه «رجل النعامة» حتى عرفه، ولكي يتأكد أكثر، سقاهُ ذلك السائل الأزرق اللامتناهي. الذي ما إن سرى في جسمه حتى أحسَّ بقوة لا حدود لها، كأنّ الصحراء بأكملها قد بُسطت أمامه. تراءى له كلّ شيء، لقد عرف أخيراً سرّ البوابة المؤدية إلى مكان الملثَّمين.
من أجواء الرواية نقرأ: «خرجت الطفلتان من الحفرة، الكبرى، ذات الأحد عشر عاماً، جلست وأمسكت بالرضيع، بينما أمسكت الأخرى، التي تصغرها بثلاث سنوات بالشاة. أما السالك، فحمل عكاز الزعيم واستند إليه، وتوجّه نحو الحمار العنيد الذي أبى أن يتم القبض عليه. ومن حسن حظ السالك هذه المرة، أنّ الحمار كان عطشاً، فتوقّف عن الهروب بعد محاولتين، ثم لانَ ليد السالك الذي قدّم له الماء، ولفّ على رأسه الحبل. دار حول بقايا الفريك، فوجد بَردعة جيدة، وضعها على ظهر الحمار، ثم حمل ما استطاع حمله من تمر وتين مجفّف، وماء، وقليل من اللحم المجفّف أيضاً. عاد إلى الطفلتين، وانطلقوا جميعاً نحو الشمال الغربي».
