مملكة الجواري - The kingdom of slave girls

في أواخر القرن الخامس الهجري، في ظلّ الصراعات المذهبيّة المحتدمة بين إمارات جنوب شبه جزيرة العرب، وفي بيئة ذكوريّة قاسية، حكمت منطقة جبلة امرأةٌ امتدّ سلطانها لأكثر من 50 عامًا من دون جيش يحميها سوى بعض دعاة المذهب الإسماعيلي الباطني... والجواري. في المدرسة الملحقة بالقصر، ربّت الملكة أروى الصليحيّة جواريها على فنون الإغواء والحديث والولاء المطلق لها، وبهنّ أخضعت أمراء القلاع والحصون. من بين أولئك الجواري، برزت شوذب التي حازت ثقة الملكة. تلك الجارية المحنّكة، التي تعدّدت أسماؤها وأحاط اللبس بأطيافها، ستحكم باسم سيّدتها في السرّ لمدّة طويلة بعد رحيلها وذلك بناءً على طلب زميلاتها اللواتي أدركن أنّ كتمان خبر موت الملكة هو السبيل الوحيد لاستمرار سلطانهنّ.وشوذب، أو مهما كان اسمها، لم تكن محبوبة الملكة فقط، بل كانت العشق العاصف المحرّم الذي عذّب كاتب الملكة جوذر، فأرّق لياليه وأحرق أيّامه. إنها مملكة النساء التي ستنتهي أيّامها بموت شوذب، لتشتعل الحروب بين دعاة الحق الإلهي من زيديّين وسنّة وقبليّين وسلاليّين، فتنقسم المملكة إلى ممالك...إنّها قصّة الأمس... إنّها قصّة اليوم... In the late fifth century of the Islamic calendar, amidst the raging sectarian conflicts among the emirates in southern Arabia, and in a harshly patriarchal environment, a woman ruled the region of Jibla, extending her authority for over 50 years with no army to protect her except for some Ismaili Batini missionaries and concubines. In the palace's annexed school, Queen Arwa alSulayhi nurtured her concubines in the arts of seduction, eloquence, and absolute loyalty to her, through which she subdued the princes of castles and forts. Among those concubines, Shaddadah emerged, earning the queen's trust. This knowledgeable concubine, whose names were numerous and whose disguises were many, would rule in her mistress's name in secret for a long time after her departure, at the request of her fellow concubines, who realized that concealing the queen's death was the only way to protect their authority.
