بلاد الشام في العصور الإسلاميّة الأولى (634 – 1097) – في هذه الدراسة التي تُرجمت إلى لغة الضاد بعد مرور ربع قرن على نشرها بالإنكليزيّة (1977)، يتناول المؤرّخ المخضرم كمال الصليبي القرونَ الخمسة الأولى للحكم الإسلاميّ في بلاد الشام، في إطارها الجغرافيّ والحضاريّ، إلى حين وصول طلائع جيوش الفرنجة إلى أنطاكية، في ما يُسمّى الحملة الصليبيّة الأولى.بدقّة يرفدها بالتحليل، وبأسلوبه العلميّ السلس والمشوّق، يرصد الباحث المرجعيّ مفردات وتجلّيات الحراك التاريخيّ الذي ميّز تلك الحقبة الانتقاليّة والمفصليّة في تاريخ بلاد الشام، فيُظهر المشاكل التي واجهت فترات الحكم الأولى للإسلام في هذه المنطقة من العالم، ويكشف سبب هشاشتها.كالعادة، يتابع الصليبي تقصّياته التاريخيّة عبر أنسنة الوقائع وتفكيكها وربط اللّغة بالجغرافيا. Syria Under Islam: Empire on Trial, 6341097 In this study, translated into Arabic a quarter century after its publication in English (1977), the veteran historian Kamal Salibi examines the first five centuries of Islamic rule in Syria, within its geographical and cultural context, until the arrival of the vanguards of the Crusader armies in Antioch during the socalled First Crusade. With meticulous analysis supported by his smooth and engaging scholarly style, the esteemed researcher delves into the vocabulary and the manifestations of the historical movement that characterized this transitional and pivotal period in the history of Syria, revealing the challenges faced during the early years of Islamic rule in this region of the world and uncovering the reasons for its fragility.
