لقاء - طبعة جديدة - Encounter

تتفرّد دار هاشيت أنطوان، تحت دمغة نوفل، بنشر أعمال ميخائيل نعيمه، وهو أحد أبرز الأدباء العرب المعاصرين وأدباء المهجر اللبنانيين. تتميّز كتاباته بمحاولات تنقية الأدب العربي من الزخارف والكلام الزائد، والاقتراب من تصوير واقع الأشياء والأحداث. وقد انطبع أسلوبه بالبساطة والوضوح والصراحة، وببعده عن المبالغة، لا سيّما في الوصف أو السرد أو التصوير، كما تبدو ألفاظه أقرب إلى اللّهجة العاميّة أحيانًا، ما يزيد رغبة القرّاء، من كلّ الأعمار، في مطالعة كتبه. حكايةُ روحَين جميلَين يُفتّش أحدُهما عن الآخر منذ الأزل ثمّ يتلاقيان، دبَّجتهما يراعةٌ مرهفةُ الحسّ والذوق والفكر، مناخُها يصل الأرضَ بالسماء، وهو مفعمٌ بالأسرار والأنوار، يستَحوِذ على القارئ من أوّل الكتاب فلا يستطيعُ الإفلات منه حتّى بعد أن يأتِيَ على آخره.
الحبُّ شيءٌ لا يأتي من خارج، بل هو هاجِعٌ في النفس ويحتاج إلى مَن يوقِظُه. وليوناردو، لاعبُ الكَمَنجة الساحِرُ، يُحاول أن يلتقِطَ على كمنجته النَّغمَ الذي به يوقِظُ بَهاء، بَهاء التي أحبَّها في دهر مِن أدهارِ حياتِهِما السابقة.
الروايةُ كلُّها، بَل الحياةُ كلُّها، عند ميخائيل نعيمه، هِيَ في جوهَرِها تفتيشٌ عن ذلك النَّغم. It’s a tale of two beautiful souls who have been searching for each other ever since and then meet. Embroidered with a keenness of sensitivity, taste and acuity, with an ambience that connects the earth to the sky, and is full of secrets and enlightening facts, the novel holds the reader’s attention from its very beginning and doesn’t let go until he’s reached the end of it. It is the story of Leonardo, the enchanting violin player, and Bahaa, the owner of the café’s daughter where Leonardo plays. Bahaa whom Leonardo loved in an eternity of their previous lives, after he snatched her breath with his melodies until she burned with him in love.
“Encounter” is the only strayed melody that remained from their story, a reminiscence of the love that transcends time and age, strays towards eternity and repels its flame as much as it can.
The novel was translated into English in 1957 by Naimy himself.
