xالطبيب يزور طبيباً. هكذا تبدأ الرواية، بزيارة أسامة، المتخصص في الطب النسائي، لأستاذه مختار، ليسأله عن معاناته وزوجته في إنجاب طفل، هو الذي عمِل في علاج عشرات النساء. توغل الرواية في الغوص بتفاصيل المجتمع السوري، عبر سرد قصص النساء والرجال على السواء، وبارتكازها إلى حبكةٍ متينة تبيّن الكثير من الفروقات الاجتماعية بين الطبقات في سوريا منذ التسعينيات وحتى أيامنا هذه. وبينما ينجح كثيرون في التخلص من الفقر، يبقى كثيرون عالقين في القعر. لكن بطل الرواية الخفي، ليس أسامة دائماً أو وردة التي طرأت على حياته، أو حتى زوجته نداء وصديقات طفولاتها. البطل الحقيقي هو آدم، الابن الذي لا يصير ابنا. The doctor visits a doctor. That is how the novel begins, with the Gynecologist Osama paying a visit to his teacher, Mukhtar, to ask him about his and his wife’s suffering with conceiving a child, given that the latter has treated dozens of women. The novel delves into the details of the Syrian society, by narrating the stories of men and women equally, and it is based on a solid plot that showcases many differences between Syria's social classes from the Nineties until our present days. And while many manage to escape poverty, many others remain stuck at the bottom. But the real protagonist of the novel isn’t always Osama or Warda, who came into his life, or even his wife Nidaa and her childhood friends. The real hero is Adam, the son who shall not become a son.
