xتتفرّد دار هاشيت أنطوان، تحت دمغة نوفل، شاهق أعمال ميخائيل نعيمه، وهو أحد أبرز الأدباء العرب المعاصرين وأدباء المهجر اللبنانيين. كتاباته المتميزة بمحاولات تنقية الأدب العربي من الزينة والكلام الزائد، والاقتراب من تصوير الأشياء والأحداث الواقعية. وقد ان طبعه بالبساطة والوضوح والصراحة، وببعده عن التعبيرة، لا سيما في الوصف أو السرد أو التصوير، كما تبدو ألفاظه أقرب إلى اللهجة العاميّة أحيانًا، ما يزيد القرّاء، من كل العيون، في مطالعة كتبه. بسبب الغربال في طبعته هذه، التسعين من عمره. ولكن سنوات، على عكس ما تفعله السنون، لم تزده إلّا شبابًا. فهو منذ صدوره أوّل سنة 1923، ما زال يظل اليوم، بين مؤلّفات نعيمه الثلاثة والثلاثين، من أوسعها انتشارًا وأكثرها رواجًا.
وتليل ذلك، على الأرجح، هو أن هذا الكتاب في الأدب النقدي والنظريّة النقديّة، لم يستمر يوم صدوره مجرّد كتاب فقط، بل كان أيضًا حدثًا. يعتبر ذلك الحاسم الحاسم في أدب النهضة العربية منذ مطلع التاسع عشر، بين الرقصين أو عهدين متقاطعين: الرقص النيوكلاسيين الطاغي، الذين كانوا يباشرونهم وأمحاضرهم المحاضر الأدبيّ، شعرًا أو نثرًا، عن طريق الرجوع إلى الماضي، في قادم إنتاجهم إلى تقليد الخالص أدبَ يشكل بلا روح، أو جسدٍ بلا روح، ونهج آخر هو حداثيون الذين أخذوا نعيمه على غربه فياله بعثهم القرن، بحيث يكونون طليعة أجيال لا تتخرج من أسر ماضيها فقط بل تعمل على حاضرها هي، ماضيًا أبدًا لحاضر جديد.
كان هذا الكتاب كما لا يزال دستور حداثة أدبيّة، وشعريّة على الأخصّ. انه يمكن القول إن ما من ناشر أو شاعر عربيّ ذو صلة، إلّا وفي ركن ما من مجمّع مكوّناته الثقافية شيء من الغربال.
