The book describes Suad Amiry's life in the West Bank from the early 1980s through the first decade of the new millennium. Amiry deftly evokes her neighborhood and her family's poignant history, recounting a captivating account of her attempts to live a normal life under difficult circumstances: from the impossibility of obtaining gas masks during the First Gulf War to her dog obtaining a Jerusalem passport when thousands of Palestinians could not. During the Israeli invasion of Ramallah in March 2002, her courageous ninety-two-year-old mother-in-law came to live with them, and Amiry's memoirs from that period are the core of this remarkable book about the absurdity (and agony) of life in the occupied territories.

You may return most new, unopened items within 14 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within two weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (2 to 4 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (1 to 2 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (2 to 4 business days).
