The first thing that comes to mind when examining the relationship between literature and philosophy is that the classical meaning of literature refers to the discipline of one's spirit and morals—that is, the creation of a communicative, dialogical being who masters the methods of relationship between oneself, one's spirit, and one's mind, on the one hand, and others, society, and the world, on the other. Literature is a way of life, a comprehensive behavioral approach, and this is confirmed by writings related to the aesthetics and ethics of communication, when one is polite and engages in an aesthetic relationship with others.
On the other hand, what is the function of philosophy if not to create a being aware of himself, his problems, and his world, and aware of the importance of helping to build this world and make it beautiful, just, or acceptable? What is philosophy if not to achieve a participatory human existence in which humans work to understand themselves and others?
