The subject of this book is reason. But not reason in its relationship to transmission (revelation), ideology, or history—that is, as a rationality susceptible to cultural use and ideological exploitation. Nor is it "practical reason," the reason of the "inclinational soul" and its related practical actions related to the city, such as ethics and politics. Indeed, it is not reason viewed primarily from the perspective of "theory of knowledge" or "theory of proof," which monitor the process of acquiring knowledge with its various components, tools, mechanisms, and results. Rather, the subject of this book, primarily, is reason, which falls under the "discipline of reason" (Noétique), which is part of ancient "psychology," which includes, in addition to the theory, study, or article on reason, various studies and articles, including the study of the senses, the study of imagination, the study of knowledge, and the study of will and inclination.
