The Wasiti Creed is a treatise in which the majority of issues of the fundamentals of religion and beliefs, and the methodology of the People of the Sunnah and the Community, are mentioned.
The reason for writing this creed is that a sheikh named Radi al-Din al-Wasiti, one of the followers of al-Shafi’i, came to Ibn Taymiyyah from the land of Wasit. They were pilgrims, and he complained about the state of the people in that land and in the state of the Tatars, due to the prevalence of ignorance and injustice. So he wrote this creed for him, and said about it: “I have been careful in this creed to follow the Book and the Sunnah.” He also said: “And every word I mentioned, I mention with it a verse, or a hadith, or a consensus of the Salafis.”
Explanation of Al-Aqidah Al-Wasitiyyah by Sheikh Al-Fawzan: A contemporary explanation in simplified language of Al-Aqidah Al-Wasitiyyah by Imam Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, may God have mercy on him.
