The aim of translating these texts is to inform the Arab reader of the position of the French philosopher Michel Foucault (1926-1984) on the issue of Enlightenment as a philosophical issue.
Because Enlightenment, as a historical issue, is termed the Classical Age, which includes the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, he studied it in his collection of books translated into Arabic: The History of Madness in the Classical Age, The Order of Things and the Birth of the Prison, and The Will to Knowledge. However, the Arab reader who follows the texts of this philosopher will have been informed, even if only partially, of his theoretical position on the Enlightenment, due to the translation of part of his lesson in which he commented on Kant’s text: The Answer to the Question: What is Enlightenment? or the first text, as well as the text written by the American philosopher Paul Rabinow, the translator and compiler of his texts, or the second text according to some authors. The question that arises in this case is: Why did we translate Foucault’s text on the Enlightenment?
