Tafsir al-Jalalain

This is one of the valuable and useful commentaries that has spread widely among Muslims and has benefited all Muslim countries, due to its concise expression and clear, straightforward style, free of complexity and ambiguity. The story of this commentary indicates that Imam Jalal al-Din al-Mahalli, may God have mercy on him, was one of the prominent scholars of the eighth century AH. He began composing this commentary from Surat al-Kahf and ended with Surat al-Nas. When he began commenting on Surat al-Fatihah and what follows, he passed away before completing the commentary on the first half of the Quran. Then Imam al-Suyuti, a scholar of the ninth century AH, came after him and vowed to complete the commentary on what Imam al-Mahalli was unable to commentary on. He began commenting on Surat al-Baqarah and completed the commentary to the end of Surat al-Isra. With the work of these two imams, this commentary was completed, and it has been widely accepted.
