Riyad as-Salihin, from the words of the Master of Messengers, was written by Imam Yahya ibn Sharaf al-Nawawi al-Dimashqi. This book collects authentic hadiths narrated from the Prophet Muhammad ibn Abdullah (peace and blessings be upon him) on all matters of faith and life. It arranges them into chapters and sections, making them easy for the reader to refer to and benefit from. The book includes 1,903 hadiths narrated with a brief chain of transmission, often beginning with a Companion and rarely with a Successor. The hadiths are divided into 372 chapters. It narrates the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as narrated by the Companions. In a few cases, it narrates some of the sayings and actions of the Companions, following the example of the Prophet Muhammad or striving to follow his example. The Hadiths are distributed into fifteen (books) and the book includes several chapters, the number of which varies according to their subject, and the chapters are numbered consecutively from the beginning of the book to its end, totaling three hundred and seventy-three chapters. Since the blessed hand of Al-Nawawi wrote Riyad Al-Salihin, it has followed the path of light and settled in the home of every Muslim, so that there is hardly a home without it, and its benefit is widespread, both personal and public, and the fingers of those of virtue are tied to its virtue, and the notable scholars of old and modern served it, and demonstrated some of the quality of its casting and good arrangement, beautiful composition, and selection of its content. Imam Al-Nawawi, may Allah have mercy on him, is a man whom Allah blessed in his time as he blessed his writings, so all of his writings were stamped with the stamp of acceptance, so the demand for them was amazing, and the benefit from them was available in every place and time. “Riyad Al-Salihin” is a book written by Imam Al-Nawawi, may Allah have mercy on him, on the Noble Hadith; Advice to the nation, cooperation in righteousness, and guidance to goodness. It has collected authentic hadiths that will be a path for its author to Paradise, and a means of attaining its apparent and hidden etiquette, and a collection of encouragement and intimidation, refining morals, purifying hearts, and protecting limbs. What has increased people’s interest in it is what the author has outlined and defined for his method in this book. He has committed himself to mentioning only authentic hadiths from the Sunnah, and to begin the chapters with noble Qur’anic verses, and to point out what needs to be clarified or a hidden meaning explained.
