By creating and sharing stories, humans can understand the world and everything in it. Our lives are shaped by the narratives we experience, create, and share, not only through books but also through films, television, the internet, theater, paintings, drawings, dance, and play. However, the time schools and kindergartens dedicate to reading and storytelling is shrinking day by day, focusing primarily on literacy skills rather than literature itself. The author of this book fully understands the importance of "narrative" in the lives of young children. She has based her convictions on her experience as a reader and educator, supporting them with the educational perspectives of Vygotsky and Bruner. This is of great importance because "narrative," at its core, is about producing meaning, which young children need as a profound learning experience. Here, we must note that this book is not about employing literature in education or turning children into writers. While that may happen implicitly, it is not a direct goal of the book.
