In this book, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi narrates the story of a man named Karim Khan Zand, of the Zand Kurdish tribe in Lorestan, who became one of Nader Shah's military commanders. Following the chaos that ensued after Nader Shah's death on June 24, 1747, many rivals claimed the throne of Persia. However, Karim Khan Zand attained that throne by crowning the young grandson of the last Safavid king and appointed himself as his regent. Once he established his rule, he removed the young king he had appointed, thus becoming "King" Karim Khan Zand of Persia. But his heirs, the Zand princes, engaged in a struggle among themselves, leading to the downfall of their monarchy.
