Not all the letters written by pens are read, otherwise you wouldn’t find dust particles covering many shelves and the books they contain. If they could speak, the world would revolt from the horror of what it hears of their groans and their thirst for someone to liberate them from their oppressive prison, which they will not leave unless they are chosen by a connoisseur of reading or an amateur, or a mere book collector who liberates them from one prison to transfer them to another. Perhaps some of their letters fell during that to reside in someone’s mind, and mix with other letters, generating another book that follows in the footsteps of its brothers who were imprisoned as it will be imprisoned, until it finds someone to liberate it like those who were liberated and set out to roam the minds and illuminate the path for those who befriended them, drew from their ideas, and enjoyed their news. They never get bored with a friend, nor do they abandon a companion, and their long separation only causes them an inaudible groan for humankind. It is imprisoned between the pages, moving between the two covers of the book until someone opens it, and it disappears into the air with the flying dust particles that have accumulated since this book was imprisoned on the shelf designated for it in its first, second, or third prison. Until it returns to its prison, as usual, it will generously offer all the words it possesses to its bearer, whom it considers a friend without any prior knowledge other than that it carried it in its hands. So congratulations to you, bearer of the book, for this loyal friend who does not skimp on your friend, and congratulations to that book for a human being like you who gave it value, freed it from the shackles of the shelves, and favored it over those around it. To those of you who roam the corridors of libraries looking for someone to take as a friend, do not search too much, for I am here looking for a true friend who will rescue me from the prison of the library.
