The Boy Sitting at the Back of the Class

Ahmed is a nine-year-old refugee boy. He fled with his family from his homeland, Syria, after the war broke out there. After a long journey of suffering, Ahmed was separated from his parents and ended up in England, where he joined a school in London and was placed under the care of an English lady. Ahmed was not fluent in English, which caused him some learning difficulties and feelings of isolation. However, Alexa and three of her classmates insisted on befriending Ahmed, especially after he recounted his story when the class teacher asked him to. Ahmed's four friends devised various plans to help him find his parents. In the end, the plan devised by Alexa, despite putting her at risk, succeeded in bringing Ahmed's story and the plight of refugee children like him to the newspapers. Alexa's plan was successful, as Ahmed's parents were found, and the family was approved to be reunited and live in England. The adventure culminated with an invitation from the Queen for Ahmed and his friends to have tea with her at Buckingham Palace.
