AuthorNoufa Bint Al Suwaidi
In her debut novel, "I'll Dress You in a Wedding Shroud," written in the local dialect, young Emirati writer Nouf Al Suwaidi explores romantic and social issues, presenting mixed feelings of love, regret, and the pain of separation, as well as the frameworks and realities that customs and traditions can create in this context.
The events revolve around two main characters: "Nouf," a forgiving woman with a big heart who witnessed her heartbreak firsthand when her beloved married another woman due to customs and traditions, and "Hamid," the novel's protagonist. Despite his domineering, tyrannical, and stubborn personality, he sacrificed his love and married another to avoid deviating from his tribe's customs, even if it meant sacrificing his true love.
