This concludes what Simeon son of Zachariah, also known as Simeon the Egyptian, wrote about the Israelites in the Wilderness of Sin, and what befell them from the crossing of the sea until the death of Moses son of Amram. I know that I have written on these pages only one of two things: something I witnessed with my own eyes or something I heard from a trustworthy man. I call the Lord (El) to witness that I sought neither glory nor honor in this book, but rather to bear witness to a generation of the Israelites, whom God chose and miraculously saved from their enemy, then upon whom He became angry and destroyed in that desolate wilderness, after making them taste the hardship of wandering and the bitterness of exile. This is a book whose reader I do not know, but whoever you may be, I hope you will remember the author of these chapters with mercy and pray for his forgiveness.
