"Ibrahim," a young Guinean boy, was never given the chance to complete his childhood and was left with the burdens of a family and a younger brother at an early age. He dreamed of driving trucks, but found himself riding in death trucks or walking in the desert with neither water nor trees.
Journey after journey, and the Guinean child Ibrahima follows in the footsteps of his little brother. In the absence of madness and death, Ibrahima grew up without realizing it. And here he is, telling his story in a delicious and exciting narrative, despite the bitterness and pain. “It is not easy to talk about life, my brother,” the journalist answered as he asked him, before reassuring him.
He writes his biography without papers.
This novel sheds light on the suffering of sub-Saharan Africans in the north of the African continent. Dreams of Europe lead to displacement, security persecution, slave markets, difficult jobs, and the deception of boat owners. But Ibrahim was not among those dreaming of Europe; other winds led him there. We found him sitting, bleeding, telling his story, the story of thousands of children. Perhaps, if we listen closely, we will fall asleep.
