Arab peoples have passed on proverbs since their early eras in the pre-Islamic era, until the era of Islam, and up to the present day, as some still circulate them among themselves, and others are no longer interested in them. For this reason, the author, Dr. Abdul Badi’ Al-Nirbani, placed before us a book in which he collected what he selected from the proverbs of the Arabs, taking into account in the selection the great need for them in speech. They amounted to about two hundred proverbs, which he arranged according to the letters of the dictionary according to the first, without stripping away the extra letters. He introduced it with an introduction on the meaning of the proverb. And its characteristics, benefits, and its relationship to poetry and its status in the language, to then move on in a later stage to the focus of his book that bears the same title, selecting many proverbs, which he began to talk about, explain, and narrate their stories, and among these proverbs that the writer wrote in his pages in the chapter on the letter Alif and Hamza: “My father is fighting and my mother is talking,” “The rope is mixed with the arrow,” and in the chapter on the letter Ra: “He returned with Hunayn’s shoes,” and many others in the chapters on all the letters of the alphabet; Thus, the book includes a wonderful series that enables young people to learn Arabic and brings them closer to it.
