It is well known that the Arabic language has received wide attention throughout the ages, how could it not, when the Holy Qur’an has entrusted it with preservation and protection? For this reason, the author, Ahmed Hassan Al-Zayyat, explained to us the history of this great language in his book, “History of Arabic Literature,” clarifying to us the developments that occurred in the language throughout the ages, starting with the pre-Islamic era, highlighting the emergence of the language, and explaining the two types of literature, poetry and prose. He then touched on his discussion of some pre-Islamic poets and their classes, moving on to the era of early Islam, showing how the country became, in the shadow of The Umayyad rule, and he pointed out the types of literature and its sources, to take the reader by the hand and make him see the development that occurred during the time of the Abbasid Caliphate, presenting him with some examples of poetry and prose, concluding with the last era, which is the modern era, to highlight in it the means of the modern renaissance; so that his book is one of the books that should be read to know the greatness of the language of the Arab countries, and to guide this rising generation to preserve it and take pride in it.
