This book addresses a number of sensitive topics, addressed by the author using his usual rigorous and disciplined scientific inductive approach. These include: the function of myth and its role in individual and collective life; meaning, myth, and its hidden implications; the connection between myth and religion and religious beliefs; ritual and myth; the model of the Tammuz hymns; myth and history; between religion and ethics in Eastern religions; beliefs of the ancient East: pagan or monotheistic?; the image of the biblical God and its implications for biblical ethics; and other topics that we have revisited and documented with textual evidence from myths, rituals, and prayers, most of which are presented in Arabic for the first time. This makes "Myth and Meaning" an engaging literary book, in addition to being a profound intellectual investigation. This research was not written over long periods, nor published in newspapers or periodicals. Rather, it was written steadily over two years, based on previous drafts, scattered notes, and preliminary translations prepared by the author of several ancient Eastern texts.
