Thus Spoke Zarathustra

Author's name: Friedrich Nietzsche

Nietzsche summarized his philosophical ideas in his book, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, which he called “the vestibule of his philosophy.” This book is truly considered a landmark in German philosophy. Despite the passage of more than a hundred years since its composition, its ideas still resonate greatly; to the point that some consider it one of the hundred greatest books in human history. The ideas of this book have influenced many human fields such as war, politics, and art. For example, some soldiers in World War I carried it in their backpacks, and some believe that its ideas about the “superior man” represented the foundation upon which Nazi ideology was built and ignited World War II. The influence of this book also extended to artistic works, most notably the piece by the musician Richard Strauss that bore the same name, and the film A Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick. This book, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, is by the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. (1844-1900 AD) One of the most influential books in philosophy, literature, art, politics, sociology, education, and indeed in the entire course of human history, as his ideas have been interpreted to be the philosophical foundation for Nazi racism, which was the spark for World War II. Although this was not Nietzsche's intention, his formulation of his ideas came in a flexible and ambiguous manner that is open to every interpretation. A philosopher's words can only have this degree of influence if they are an impetus for and expression of a current that was already present in the course of history; a current that existed but was latent, waiting to be announced. Therefore, understanding the historical path that led to Nietzsche is essential to understanding Nietzsche and his philosophy, which he mobilized in his most famous book, "Thus Spoke Zarathustra."
