Iron Man came to the top of the cliff. No one knew how far he had walked to get there. No one knew where he came from. Or what he was made of. Iron Man stood taller than the house, at the edge of the cliff in the darkness. The wind sang in his iron fingers. His iron head was shaped like a trash can, but as big as a bedroom.

Ted Hughes wrote the novel Iron Man in 1968 for his two children, and it is considered one of the masterpieces of science fiction. In it, Hughes showed an interest in the environment and nature, and a focus on themes such as coexistence and overcoming the fear of the stranger.
Hogarth, the clever boy, believed that a confrontation with Iron Man would benefit no one. Therefore, he opted for a peaceful solution, which transformed Iron Man from an enemy into a friend, and then into a hero who defended the city when it was attacked by the alien.
If the world always listened to children, everyone would live in great prosperity.
