Every family has its secrets, some of which require murder to protect, and can only be revealed through death... Young orphan Harriet Westaway receives a letter from a lawyer in Penzance, informing her that she is one of the beneficiaries of a huge inheritance left by her late grandmother, who lived in Cornwall. From the moment she receives the letter, Harriet (Hall) knows that something has gone wrong; Her grandmother died twenty years ago, leaving her no inheritance. However, because she needs to pay off a debt owed to a moneylender, whose men have been following and threatening her, Hal decides to take advantage of her cold-reading abilities and play the role of the desired granddaughter. She takes the train to Penzance to attend the funeral and meet her supposed family.
