This is how you recover

Healing can begin in an instant, often in the form of a sudden loss that shakes our expectations for the future and changes the course of our lives. But the essence of true healing lies not in that moment alone, but in our ability to allow this shock to awaken us from our deep slumber, to free the roles and personas we have become accustomed to, so that we can begin a journey of restoring the full truth and complete awareness of who we were and who we were meant to be. We should not expect healing experiences to simply return us from the trauma of the ego to its original state; rather, we must realize, at the first encounter, that what we are mostly dealing with is only our pride. Here lies the moment of true reconciliation, where we realize what Michael Murphy described as: "a greater life pressing to come into being."
