Dilshad: The Story of Hunger and Satiety, Part One

In a time dominated by poverty and disease, Dilshad abandoned his only daughter to her fate. She had to find her way in a world of greed ruled by the memory of hunger. This novel makes you feel the pangs of hunger in its words, as you sense your body wasting away, searching for a morsel here and a morsel there, for the absence that sometimes leads the characters to death or to another life and another experience of hunger. I can almost see Dilshad's face, smiling through pain, loss, hunger, and destitution. I almost join him in searching for something to silence that hungry mouth. This novel, this life, this dangerous game, once it begins, its torrent of tragedies sweeps you away, making you cry and laugh, smell the odors of death and poverty, and then allowing the current to take you to paths drawn by fate for its characters.
