A question that has cognitive value if directed to the questioning self, and to the self's actual accomplishments or critical theory, with the aim of lifting the immunity of the self and the accomplishment so that the accomplishment does not turn into a personal legacy that we rely on to the point of surrendering to it and thus being under its authority.

In this book, I have traced the situation of this question among great philosophers, and how their situations with it varied. Some of them raised it and then evaded it, some of them avoided evoking it, and some of them took it seriously and made it a reason for huge transformations that amounted to shock to their followers and shame in their theories. This is the advantage of qualitative questions that change the course of ideas and reveal scientific courage. I also raised in the book the controversial and fateful question about (the function of cultural criticism in that the function of any methodology is its proof and a sign of its vitality
