Teach Me Supplication

You sit alone, distraught, pondering what is happening to you. The waves of trials have crashed upon you, and worries have surrounded you from all sides. You search here and there for someone who understands you, who can lighten your burden, who can heal your wound... And then you find the world has grown dark in your eyes, and the earth, despite its vastness, has constricted around you. Amidst this darkness, you see a ray of light appearing on the horizon, as if it is a message reaching you at the perfect time... A light that penetrates your soul, bringing it serenity, and touches your heart, bringing it peace. Allah Almighty strengthens your heart, and it calms down. This light emanates from a verse you heard: "...And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near." (Al-Baqarah: 186). At that moment, you realize that you are not alone, even if everyone else has abandoned you. He, Glory be to Him, knows everything: your pain, your worry, your sadness, your tears; for He is closer to you than your mind or senses can comprehend, but your soul feels it. It's a strange feeling of security and tranquility, and that He, Glory be to Him, will manage your affairs.
