This book, in six chapters, tells the stories of women in their psychological and social struggles—their stories with themselves and their bodies, their families, their extended and immediate families, and their hostile societies. It will explore their struggles and joys, their successes and disappointments, whether they are children, teenagers, adult women, or the elderly; whether they are invisible girls living in a family, independent women, mothers living with husbands or single mothers, grandmothers with husbands or single grandmothers, paid workers or unpaid housewives. We will meet them and listen to their struggles and recovery. The ultimate goal of this book is to empower girls and women to lift the psychological damage they have suffered, to enable them to manage their lives efficiently, independently, and freely, to regain the ability to learn and work, to be effective in their small and large environments, and to make the major decisions in their lives and guide them toward psychological well-being.
