The question that this book seeks to answer is: what makes the philosophical propositions of Marx and Nietzsche enduringly effective, capable of overcoming many cultural and intellectual difficulties, and able to penetrate the twenty-first century? Is the matter related to philosophical originality, method, or elements of their philosophical discourse?

Perhaps the divergence between the two philosophers, Marx and Nietzsche, reveals the nature of the conflict characterizing the current century. It is a conflict between man in his revolutionary pursuit of self-realization, and man in his volitional pursuit of negating his false existence and creating his true existence through the will to power. It is between man as a social being and man as a unique individual incapable of integration or division.
