PublisherDiwan Publishing
A unique book in its subject and style, with which Naguib Mahfouz concluded his creative journey by writing texts depicting fragments and specters of his dreams during the convalescence period following his stabbing by extremists, adding to them his imagined dreams fraught with symbols. Dreams of Convalescence was translated into French and English. Its English translator, Raymond Stock, mentioned that the dreams contain more of Mahfouz's autobiography than autobiographical echoes. The renowned psychiatrist Yahya Rakhawi also discussed it in his book "On the Nature of Dream and Creativity," analyzing these texts from a psychological perspective and commenting on them from the viewpoint of psychology and humanities.
