Evil has many faces, too numerous to count. In ancient Egypt, it is the brutal force of the god Set. In ancient Iraq, it is the mother goddess Tiamat, the destructive dragon, the vengeance of the god Enlil, and the wrath of the goddess Ishtar. In Phoenicia, it is the death of the god of famine and drought. In Greece, you will be bewildered, not knowing where Zeus stands in relation to it. The people of Persia will tell you it is Angra Mainyu and Ahriman, leaders of the dark armies, and the Vikings will quickly answer: rather, it is the wicked Loki, treacherous to his companions. The Christian monk will make the sign of the cross as he warns you of the serpent and the dragon, servants of Satan, and the ancient Arab will caution you against falling into the trap of the ghoul or committing acts that provoke the jinn.
