No... there's no such thing as love.

I laugh at the foolish girls who swoon over Abdel Wahab's sighs and Abdel Halim Hafez's lamentations, pouring their youth into the lines of romantic stories and films... then hanging their illusions on the first young man they meet, tearing their hearts with their nails, and screaming, "We've fallen in love!" No, girls... no, deluded ones... there's no such thing as love... believe me... (I know... I'm an expert... I have extensive, bitter experience...), what is called love is not... is nothing but... what can I say... it's just habit... Yes, just habit... You get used to a man, and the habit becomes deeply ingrained in you, until you think it's love... or you call it love... just as we say that this man loves whiskey. Does it make sense for a man to fall in love with whiskey? But we use the word "love" for whiskey, just as we use it for human relationships... because the basic element on which the relationship between a man and whiskey is based, is the same element on which the relationship between a man and a woman is based... and that is habit... getting used to... And when we say that so-and-so loves whiskey, we mean that so-and-so is accustomed to whiskey... And when we say that so-and-so loves so-and-so, we mean that so-and-so is accustomed to so-and-so.
