The Epistles of Abu Hayyan al-Tawhidi

Abu Hayyan al-Tawhidi (310-414 AH / 922-1023 AD) was a Sufi philosopher, a Muslim, and a brilliant man of letters, one of the prominent figures of the fourth century AH. He spent most of his life in Baghdad, and is associated with it. Abu Hayyan was distinguished by his broad culture, sharp intellect, and elegant style. He was a man of encyclopedic knowledge, known as the "literary man of philosophers" and the "philosopher of men of letters." His works were characterized by a diversity of subject matter and richness of content, in addition to the anecdotes and allusions they contained, which clearly reveal the intellectual, social, and political conditions of the era in which he lived. Furthermore, his writings are full of the author's opinions on the people of his time, including politicians, thinkers, and writers.
