The crisis of contemporary psychology

Author's name: George Poltzer

The importance of this book stems from the fact that it is a theoretical addition that no psychologist can ignore. Unfortunately, however, we do not find any mention of it in American and British psychology books. This is due to American psychologists' dislike of viewpoints based on dialectical materialist philosophy, for reasons that are not hidden from the reader's intelligence. Those working in psychology in the Arab countries have relied on direct transmission from English and American sources, so that it can be said that what exists of psychology in the Arab countries is “foreign psychology,” that is, the psychology that deals with the behavior, beliefs, and problems of Western societies and Western people, which does not apply to us, the sons of the Arab nation, unless there is something called a single human or psychological nature for all humans, which is an assumption whose validity has not been proven. Most personality theorists believe that a person is a product of his environment, and that the element of culture and guidance has the greatest impact on shaping a person’s psychology and mind.
