This is a new study of the Holy Quran, for which I have previously provided models in some of my writings.

I was constantly aware of my shortcomings as I proceeded, for the Quran is too grand for someone like me to undertake, but I was eager to deepen my understanding of the Quran and ponder its meanings.

The goal I strived for was to present a thematic interpretation for each surah of the Noble Book,

And thematic interpretation is different from exegetical interpretation:

The latter deals with a verse or a group of verses, explaining the words, structures, and rulings.

As for the former, it deals with the entire surah, attempting to draw a "snapshot" of it, encompassing its beginning and end, and identifying the hidden links that bind it all together, making its beginning a prelude to its end, and its end a confirmation of its beginning.

I paid great attention to the unity of the theme within the surah, even if its issues were numerous.

I emphasize that this thematic interpretation never substitutes for exegetical interpretation; rather, it complements it and is an effort added to its valued endeavors.

There is another meaning for thematic interpretation that I have not addressed, which is tracing a single meaning throughout the Quran, gathering it in a coherent context, and addressing many issues on this basis.

I have presented models for this interpretation in my book "The Five Axes of the Holy Quran" and "Reflections on the Quran."

Undoubtedly, Quranic studies need this other approach, and some even believe that the future belongs to it! And praise be to Allah, who revealed the Book to His servant and made it guidance for those of understanding, protecting it from error and purifying it for correctness.
