The neighborhood has become a headache-causing wall, and like a knower, it tells stories and narrates, without a tongue, except for a few scraps and papers hung up that say what tongues are unable to utter. It quickly turned into a daily shrine, on which people hang their thoughts, dreams, joys, and sorrows; through writing, drawing, and various other means. This novel is a new narrative in the literature of confession and purification, where the old man, Mr. Khalaf, "the omniscient narrator," took advantage of the noisy wall; he wrote on white and colored papers to narrate, tell stories, confess, and shed truths and secrets. The writer succeeded in inaugurating the neighborhood, where the reader will go to see the wall and the papers, and to live and mingle with its people, its conditions, and the events that took place there and the fates of the group of five and their youngest, Hassan. Although the neighborhood has no reality on the map, it is completely justified by realism, and this novel also champions the arts and presents them as a great and inevitable means of influence, expression, and making a difference.
