Virtues and Characteristics of Surat Al-Baqarah

"Surat Al-Baqarah" is the longest surah in the Holy Qur'an; it is also one of its greatest surahs due to its inclusion of many rulings in acts of worship, transactions, and creed, as well as numerous admonitions and wisdoms. Many authentic prophetic hadiths have been reported concerning the virtues of this surah, stating that: reciting it in the home expels devils; reciting it protects its reciter from evils and safeguards them from sorcerers and their magic, and that it contains blessings that encompass whoever recites it. This surah also possesses many characteristics proven in authentic hadiths, including: that this surah encompasses the greatest verse called "Ayat al-Kursi," so whoever recites it before sleeping will be under Allah's protection from Satan until they awaken, and that the last two verses of this surah suffice its reciter from all harm.

In this book, the author presents an analytical hadith study of this blessed surah. He begins by discussing the place and reason for the surah's revelation, then moves on to defining its divinely revealed and jurisprudential names, and clarifying its objectives and characteristics. He then focuses on mentioning what has been reported regarding its virtues, the virtues of "Ayat al-Kursi," and the concluding verses of this surah from authentic hadiths, with a brief explanation for each, and a warning about the weak and fabricated hadiths mentioned in each of them.
