It is well known to every Muslim the importance of knowing the rulings of his religion and its rituals, and knowing the evidence for these rulings from the pure Prophetic Sunnah, so that the Muslim is well-informed in his religion. Therefore, this book has compiled more than four hundred hadiths arranged into sixty-four chapters of jurisprudence, with the chains of transmission omitted, summarized, and accompanied by an explanation of the unusual words of the Prophet. These hadiths are taken from the two most authentic books after the Book of Allah, namely the books of Bukhari and Muslim. In other words, all the hadiths in this book are not only authentic, but are among the most authentic. It was compiled by the Hanbali scholar and hadith master Imam al-Maqdisi, who wrote the first book of biographies of the narrators of the Six Books, "Al-Kamal fi Asma' al-Rijal," which the imams devoted themselves to refining and abbreviating. This book is one of the earliest and most comprehensive works on the science of hadith rulings. It is easy to memorize for those who wish to learn it. The manuscript is diacritically correct and has been properly maintained and compared to the most important manuscripts, including copies read by the author, al-Maqdisi. The title of the book is in keeping with its content, as it is a cornerstone of its field. Therefore, scholars have relied on it and explained it in dozens of commentaries.
