In every human being there is something of what the heroes of this novel are, which travels from beginning to beginning, not only for you to contemplate them, but for us today. A novel written with insight about the tragedy of leaving paradise, sometimes with the anguish of tragedy and at other times with black humor. We are all a product of that first tragedy, and each of us has our share of it. Thus, Adam and Eve are not behind us, but with us here in the twenty-first century, as if what is happening today is what they lived, or as if we are the memory of each of them and their wife. How can the “now” be a memory of the past, just as the past is a memory of every “now,” that is what Ibrahim Nasrallah presents in this novel that transcends time, far from the gloom of writing about tragedies, and laughter that resembles crying, and crying in which there are many features of laughter. It is a journey within humanity as much as it is a journey through time, in which the omniscient narrator is present with all his knowledge in this amazing trilogy that bears his name, where thousands of years separate the events of the first part from the events of the second part, which was published under the title “Windcatchers.” Each part in the omniscient narrator’s trilogy seems independent, but arriving at the meaning will not be complete without staying at the three stations consecutively, as there are two parallel rivers that cross the entire trilogy: the river of humanity with its transformations, and the river of the omniscient narrator with his transformations as well. Before and after this, it is a journey to restore us to regain the ability to be amazed and to reclaim beauty before its decline.
