Childhood can only be happy if the correct belief is instilled. The fundamentals of the correct Islamic belief are: belief in God, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Day of Judgment, and in destiny, both good and bad. From these six fundamentals stem all that must be believed in regarding matters of the unseen, and everything that God and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) have informed us of. Belief in God Almighty includes believing in all that He has enjoined upon His servants and imposed upon them, foremost among which are the five pillars of Islam: testifying that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God, establishing prayer, paying zakat, fasting Ramadan, and performing the Hajj pilgrimage to the Sacred House of God for those who are able to do so, and other obligations brought by the pure Sharia. Instilling the correct belief in the souls of children must occur in a calm and beautiful manner that suits the child's mental and intellectual abilities, takes into account his psychological and emotional state, addresses his mind and heart, and combines the fundamentals of Sharia with practical ideas. We will not succeed in instilling the correct Islamic belief unless we use the Islamic method in instilling it, starting from the Book of God Almighty and the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
