Forty in the Greatness of the Lord of the Worlds

Allah was and there was nothing else, and His Throne was over the water, and He wrote everything in the Book, and He created the heavens and the earth. Allah wrote the destinies of creation fifty thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth. He said: {And His Throne was over the water} [Hud: 7]. Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, took the covenant from the loins of the children of Adam at Na’man, meaning at Arafat, and brought forth from his loins every offspring He had created, and scattered them before Him like spores. Then He spoke to them directly, saying: {Am I not your Lord? They said: Yes, we bear witness, lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection, “Indeed, we were of this unaware.”} [Al-A’raf: 172]
