"The Marvelous Midlife Crisis," a book translated from English by Ida Lushan, an American parenting expert with a master's degree in child psychology, whose primary goal is to make people happy and teach them how to live a happy life at various stages, drawing on her personal experiences and those of those around her of all ages and life experiences. She took all of this and crafted it in a manner closer to an autobiography that could indirectly take on the character of a novel. In his introduction to the book, recently published by Al-Ahram Center for Publishing, Translation and Distribution and translated by Sohair Sabry, Egyptian mental health expert Dr. Yahya Al-Rakhawi says: "The book deals with midlife, which is an extremely important stage in a person's life. Indeed, it is the most important and longest stage of life. However, despite its importance, it is a stage that is neglected in terms of human attention. This is due to the belief of some that it is the stage of youth and maturity, and that it does not require attention to avoid its problems and pay attention to its weaknesses. In this book, the author attempts to change this view." According to Al-Rukhawi, despite the full maturity of this stage, a person may become so preoccupied during it that he forgets two essential matters: first, to enjoy this stage in and of itself, and second, to save the strength that will help him complete his life in the next stage of his life, “old age,” which is more fragile and frail. The book, perhaps from an autobiographical perspective, addresses women’s problems in particular at this stage of life, especially since it is the stage in which menstruation stops and the woman’s role as a child-making factory ends, which was called, insultingly and ignorantly, menopause. The author removed this stupid stigma from this age and restored to women their human, creative, and emotional role that extends as long as life lasts, and whose most delicious fruits can ripen in this stage of middle age.
