'Refreshingly candid' - The New York Times | 'Extraordinary' - Laura Lynn Jackson | 'Beautifully written' - Katie Butler | 'Tender and transformative' - Kristy Tate | 'Meaningful and sublime' - Teresa Brown. What do life's final moments teach us about living well today? In this bestselling memoir, hospice nurse Hadley Vlahos tells the unforgettable stories of hospice patients whose journeys of self-discovery inspired a sense of purpose and hope. From the elderly man who saw his deceased daughter in visions, to the young patient who laments lost time for fear of judgment, to the woman whose steadfast faith in the possibility of death was shaken, each story teaches us to accept the transient nature of life and poses essential questions: How do we come to terms with the end? How do we honor our departed loved ones? And above all, how do we make each day count?
A compassionate and thought-provoking book, The Middle is a celebration of life's great unknowns, and a source of comfort for us as we explore what comes next.
