The Prophetic Biography

Ibn Hisham's book, "The Prophetic Biography," is considered one of the ancient works on the history of our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. It is the most famous book on the Seerah. Scholars have shown great interest in it, sometimes writing commentaries and at other times abridging it, both in the past and in the present. Ibn Hisham's book is an abridgement of Ibn Ishaq's earlier work, of which only a small part has reached us, with most of it lost. This is another aspect of its importance. He removed what he found to be outside the scope of the topic or weak, and added to it where he found it appropriate. He included suitable poems. The editors have explained some ambiguous passages,
translated biographies of prominent figures, and added headings to paragraphs, as well as providing the book with scientific indexes.
