This book is a collection of my father's diverse and little-known essays that have never appeared in book form. But they are among Stephen Covey's most important essays, and they contain some of his best ideas. My colleagues and I thought it appropriate to share them with the world. I'm writing this introduction three years after my father's death. But as you read these essays, you will hear his sharp, penetrating voice speaking to you. These essays have remained virtually untouched since they were written. We've simply incorporated them into his writings on living the Masterclass life. My father wrote some of these essays while writing The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People*, and it's exciting to see in them the foundation of ideas that have since transformed the world of business and, indeed, the lives of millions of people. But this book isn't a rehash of The 7 Habits; it includes new ideas about moving from a life spent consumed by external success traps to one of peace of mind, contentment, and wisdom.
