This is the second book in a series on the biographies of Muslim scholars. I hope that my focus will not be limited to their contributions to enriching this nation with the vast Islamic knowledge with which God has blessed it, but will also encompass aspects of their personal and private lives: their ethics, piety, and worship. These are matters we need to study, for the people of this nation cannot hope to return to their former glory and honor unless they embody the qualities that distinguished Muslims in the early generations of Islam. Unfortunately, many Muslims today are unaware even of the names of our past scholars, let alone their biographies or their contributions to Islam. Because of this disconnection from the past, many Muslims live in a state of ignorance and confusion, seemingly waiting for someone to illuminate the path for them. Most people are tired of listening to sermons; everyone wants to see those who, through their conduct and actions, represent a practical embodiment of the religion of Islam. One must search far and wide to find those who meet these criteria—although we still have scholars who are virtuous in word and deed (praise be to God). But in reality, one doesn't need to look far to find them; their lives are recorded for us in history books. I am referring specifically to the scholars of the first generations of Islam, as well as to the later scholars who followed in the footsteps of their righteous predecessors. Binding: Paperback
